Career guidance typically involves a combination of psychometric tests combined with a coaching or advisory element.

Career decisions usually do not occur as single events. Good career choices take place over a period of time as you mature personally and develop in your chosen career. The two do not necessarily happen simultaneously. Some people make sound career choices in their mid-teens, while others might make them a fair bit later. There are even those who follow a more dynamic and non-linear career progression. The point is to get you started on a path and to follow one that is suited to you.  Either way, professional career guidance is essential if you want to make wise and informed career decisions.

The purpose of undergoing assessments is to enable you to embark on a career that is a good fit for you in terms of your personality, values, interests, and aptitude. The more you understand about yourself, the easier it’ll be to discover which direction to take in your career. Psychometric assessments are scientifically based and essentially take the guesswork out of decision-making.  As a Psychometrist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), I specialize in career guidance assessments.  I aim to assist you in making informed career decisions by providing insights into your personality, values, interests, and aptitudes and how these aspects relate to a specific career environment.

Process

  • A pre-interview is conducted
  • Psychometric assessments are performed
  • A feedback session is scheduled with the candidate and his / her parents (where applicable) where we discuss the results and their interpretation alongside your dreams and aspirations.
  • A comprehensive report integrating all assessment data is discussed and provided to the candidate.

Types of Career Coaching

  • Coachworx is here to assist you if you are:
    • a Grade 9 high school learner wanting to decide on your subject choices for next year
    • In Grades 10 or 11 and are considering changing subjects and deciding what to study
    • In Matric and still unsure as to what to do once you leave school
    • A school leaver who needs clarity as to which direction to take based on the outcome of your Matric results
    • A university student who is either uncertain as to your chosen field of study, or unclear as to the next step after graduation
    • Already in a career but you are feeling the need to make a change but need guidance in terms of which options are available and the required steps to take.

“For me, becoming isn’t about arriving somewhere or achieving a certain aim.

I see it instead as forward motion, a means of evolving, a way to reach continuously toward a better self.”

– Michelle Obama
